I am a UK artist based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and paint using oils. I find inspiration for my paintings in the ever-changing landscapes of the British Isles. The rugged beauty, the tranquil shores of the coast, and the diverse environments all around me.

Outdoor painting in Cornwall

I’ve been enjoying a welcome return trip down to Cornwall with my wife and blessed with sunshine which was greatly appreciated especially when planning to paint outdoors.

I started on the Roseland Peninsular and at a favourite location of St Anthony lighthouse.

It has a National Trust car park which is free for members and the views I was looking to paint were both a short walk away. We had taken our lunch and drinks so hunkered down for the day.

I had taken a variety of wooden panels to paint on but decided to go for the 10 × 8” size which can be completed within a few hours.

It was Wonderful to watch the world go by, listen to the seabirds and see the yachts moored in the bay.

While painting, a father and daughter from one of the yachts had wondered what I was doing so decided to come ashore and have a look. It’s always nice to have a chat while painting and normally the feedback and comments are favourable which they were on this occasion!
